Xiao Guodong vs Jimmy Robertson preview (World Snooker Championship last round qualifier)

Xiao Guodong

Another tight encounter, Guodong, after 4-4 at the end of first sessions, he lost only one frame in the second session of the match against Highfield. Xiao reached the semifinal of the 2014 Australian Open losing 3-6 to Trump, not much for a player considered by me motivated enough to be number two in China and then even jeopardize Ding’s position, Guodong being not even close to this, as after the 2013 Shanghai Masters final he did not managed to reach another final of a professional tournament.

Jimmy Robertson reached two semifinals this season, minor ranking tournaments (an European and an Asian tour) but I can’t point a single famous win, what can be mentioned is that Robertson won against Guodong early this season, 5-3 back in September at the Shanhai Masters, while in 2011 he managed to qualify for the televised stages of the World Championship for the first time in his career after winning in qualifying round 10-9 to the detriment of this year opponent.

H2H: 5-1 J. Robertson http://www.cuetracker.net/Head-to-Head/Xiao-Guodong/Jimmy-Robertson

Prediction: Guodong to advance.
