The Australian player won the only final played at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Robertson is the only non-British player that holds the Triple Crown, being a winner of the three most prestigious snooker tournaments: the World Championship in 2010, the UK Championship in 2013 and the Master in 2012. He started the season with a trophy by Wuxi Classic, losing the final of the second tournament, Australian Open, clearly losing the final at the Master and winning the EPT event 6.
Jamie Jones had a tricky final qualifying round, 10-8 against a surprisingly opponent, Duffy. What worth mentioning is that the only 2 breaks of over 50 points were made by the opponent, as Jamie failed to repeat the good evolution and the winning breaks from the previous two rounds. Tomorrow is Jamies’s second appearance at the Crucible, the debut being made in 2012, winning in first round 10-8 vs Murphy, 13-10 against Higginson next round and losing the quarter-final 11-13 to Ali Carter. This season he recorded victories over the Top 16 players such as Fu, Murphy and Maguire.
I rate Robertson as a contender for this year’s trophy and I see here an unbalanced encounter, same as the other two meetings between the two players ended this season.
