Atlanta Braves won the first game of this series yesterday scoring 5 runs, Miami could only score 3 runs in the whole game at home. Even though they were the first to score, the Marlins could not keep the game against Braves. Atlanta in the second inning scored 2 runs, taking the lead. Miami scored another run in the third and then from there they didn’t score until the seventh inning. Braves scored their last two in the eighth to win 5-3.
Miami have only won one series to the Braves this season and they have played 3. The series was won in April between 13 and 15. They started losing the first game of the series but could win the other 2 games.
Mat Latos will open the game tonight, He already faced the Braves twice this season and lost both times on April: Marlins 2 Atlanta 12, and a tight game 2-3 which won Atlanta. Latos’ debut game with Marlins was a disaster, even though he came out of Cincinnati Reds with a good record. He gave the Braves 7 runs and has barely won a game with Miami.
It notes that Latos comes from a knee injury and this has prevented him from a good start this season. “Having to come back from the knee injury, I didn’t have a great spring and I pushed that into the season” he said. Latos could reduce his ERA numbers after his only win against the Washington Nationals this season.
Atlanta Braves brings back their left pitcher Alex Wood against Miami, which already faced the Marlins in the first series of this year and knows very well Matt Latos. Wood threw in the game where Atlanta made 12 runs to Latos and Miami scored only 2 runs.
Alex Wood hasn’t won a single game since their April game against the Marlins. He had a chance to win on Sunday against the Nationals but could not keep the result.
Miami is scoring 4.5 runs on average for their last 6 games at home and allowing up to 3.33 to visitors. Atlanta is scoring to Marlins right pitchers 4 runs on average.
