Judd Trump enjoyed a brilliant run to the final at the Crucible in 2011. He knocked out defending champion Neil Robertson 10-8, Martin Gould 13-6, Graeme Dott 13-5 and Ding Junhui 17-15, to set up a classic final against John Higgins. After second session Trump was leading 10-7, but the Scottish player proved too strong in the end and won with 18-15. This season Trump had not a very bright season, winning the Australian Open and The World Grand Prix, playing the finals by EPT 2, losing Champion of Champions and UK Championship finals to the same player, Ronnie O’Sullivan, and reaching 2 semi-finals and other 4 quarter-finals.
Stuart Carrington is making his debut at the World snooker Championship, at the Crucible he played already in 2006 when he won Junior Pot black, beating Anthony McGill in the final. In the World Championship qualifiers he knocked out Joel Walker 10-6, Peter Ebdon 10-7 and Li Hang 10-9. In the match against Hang, Carrington pushed the meeting to a deciding frame with a break of 105 points, winning the last frame of the encounter with 66 to 32 points. This is its best performance of his carrier, as earlier this season he managed barely to reach the last 16 round of two minor ranking tournaments, the European Tour Event 4 and 6.
