This is another great game this week featuring two teams that are still contenting for a playoff position in group F. Many players have stated their opinion that this group F, featuring teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, CSKA Moscow, Laboral Kutxa, Olympiacos and Zalgiris is probably the toughest Euroleague group in the last decade of this competition. Seven of the eight teams of this group are hoping to be among the top 4 teams that are going to secure a playoff spot in the next round. In their first matchup played in January, Khimki topped Brose Baskets on their home court with a 78-61 win, with 22 points from Alexey Shved. In this game, Brose Baskets is going to rely on their home crowd, and the fact that the visitors are 0-4 on the away court in the Top 16.
Brose Baskets have a pretty decent home record of 7 wins and only 2 losses this season, recording some big wins against Barcelona and Olympiacos in the Top 16 stage. On the other side, Khimki is playing very poorly on away court in the Top 16 (0-4). Janis Strelnieks has been the go to guy as of lately for the Brose Baskets, averaging 10.5 ppg and making at least on three pointer in the last five straight and 20 of his last 21 games. He is going to need help from Bradley Wanamaker (11.6 ppg and 3.8 apg). On the other side, Khimki might play without two very important players James Augustine and Tyler Honeycutt who are the top rebounders (alongside Josh Boone) recording both over 5.2 rpg. Khimki will once again rely on their go to guy Alexey Shved (15.9 ppg and 4.7 apg) and Tyrese Rice (13.9 ppg and 7.2 apg) to boost their offense. Petteri Koponen is also going to create a lot of problems for Zisis and Wanamaker, while Zoran Dragic might see more playing time replacing the sidelined Honeycutt. It is important to note that Khimki leads the Top 16 stage with 9 steals per game and offensive boards on the road with 13.3 offensive boards per game.
This game might be the decider for one of the two teams in the fight for the playoffs. Brose Baskets is a tough contender when playing at home, and supported by their great crowd, they will certainly be very inspired to win. On the other side, Khimki has invested a lot of money this season into their team, and their main goal is to reach the playoff stage this season. Anything less than that would be considered as a disaster. In a tough and a very close game, Khimki is going to find a way to control the game and secure their first, and probably the most important, road win.
My bet: Khimki to win @1.76
